# Which AU/NZ industries are ready for useful AI workflows?

Research-backed priorities for AI tools, agent skills and business services across AU and NZ, with value, implementation effort and source caveats.

## Where to begin

The best early offers appear to be repeatable business jobs where saved administration or faster hand-offs can be measured: accounting client work, construction and field-service quoting or job starts, and professional-service intake and research. These are prioritisation estimates, not measured Aroai buyer demand.

## Prioritise by value and implementation fit

- **Accounting and bookkeeping**: Frequent, structured client onboarding, period-close, exception and missing-record tasks. High–medium fit; keep tax and accounting judgments with professionals.
- **Construction and field services**: Quote, tender, site-document, schedule and invoice hand-offs. Strong practical value; source and workflow variety require onboarding.
- **Professional services and legal**: Matter intake, proposals, research and firm knowledge can protect billable capacity; privacy, privilege and professional review raise delivery requirements.
- **Retail and wholesale**: Supplier onboarding and product-data exceptions are repeatable; use approved product data and do not publish changes without review.
- **Property and real estate**: Research and document preparation are useful; property records are licensed and jurisdiction-specific.
- **Manufacturing and wholesale**: Specification search and operational hand-offs suit strong internal knowledge, with meaningful ERP and data quality work.
- **Agriculture, food, tourism**: Context-intensive seasonal and customer operations are valuable but source access and specialist knowledge make integrations slower.
- **Healthcare and financial services**: Potential value is high; begin with tightly bounded administration and internal search because personal data and consequential decisions raise risk.

## The context worth capturing in a skill

Skills should encode a real team's procedures: role boundaries, source priority, terminology, required inputs, common exceptions, evidence standards, escalation, and an example of an acceptable result. The accountant, foreperson, lawyer, operator or service lead must help create and review it. Several of these market-specific skills are still coming soon; NZ company due diligence is the sole published Aroai skill today.

## What the evidence does and does not say

Australian Bureau of Statistics AI use data signals current adoption by sector. MBIE reports adoption, capability and practical-support needs among NZ businesses. Individual construction and manufacturing case studies show examples only. None of these sources proves what Aroai customers will pay. This page and the linked research notes explain the scoring, tool concepts and limitations.
